Planning Every Step: My Journey to the 7th Walk to End Alzheimer’s

As an Event Planner, I’m always thinking ahead — timelines, milestones, and goals. This year, one of my most meaningful events to plan for is my 7th Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 24th. But before the event arrives, there’s another important goal I’m working toward: logging 420 miles of activity leading up to Walk Day.

So far, I’ve logged 98 miles, which means I still have 322 miles to go. Like any successful event, preparation is key — and every mile is part of the journey.

A Week of Travel… and a Reality Check

Recently, I invited my followers to guess how many steps I would log during a busy week traveling to Irvine, Disneyland, and El Dorado Hills. With a packed schedule, I expected to log a lot of steps.

The final count? 68,000 steps for the week.

While that might sound impressive, it actually averaged less than 10,000 steps per day — not quite the progress I was hoping for. It was a good reminder that just like planning an event, you can’t assume things will fall into place. You have to be intentional and track your progress along the way.

April Challenges to Build Momentum

With April around the corner, I’m planning to make a dent in my mileage with three upcoming challenges:

These challenges will help build momentum as I continue planning for Walk Day in October.

Celebrating 8 Years of #MeatlessMonday

In addition to logging miles, I’m also celebrating my 8th #MeatlessMonday anniversary in Hayward. As part of this celebration, I’m inviting sponsors to participate with a $28 donation to be featured.

This milestone is another opportunity to bring people together, raise awareness, and support a cause that impacts so many families — including mine.
